Pentecost 17c, 2019 – St. Francis Sunday

Although we use St. Francis Day (4th October) as a time to give thanks for animals and nature in general, there were many other aspects to Francis than his love of God’s creation and creatures:  His rejection of material           possessions and security, his love of the very imperfect Church of his day, his love and passion for the poor and his missionary enthusiasm and his deep love of Christ, whom he sought to follow so closely, are all as much a part of St. Francis as his sermon to the birds.  Pentecost 17c 19 – St. Francis Sunday
